Sens celebrate 100th home game with OT win over Laval

On Saturday, February 8, the Belleville Senators beat the Laval Rockets in OT. The score was 3-2.

The Belleville Sens are not struggling at all this season as they are in 1st in their conference and 2nd in the league. The Laval Rockets, who were coming off a win on Wednesday were ready to play right from the first puck drop. They scored the first goal of the game 3:46 into the first period with Charles Hudon scoring his 24th goal of the season. The Belleville Senators struck back though as J.C Beaudin tied the game as he collected his 4th goal of the season. 34 seconds later, Jacob Brannstrom got his 3rd goal of the season to give Belleville a 2-1 lead.

Late in the 2nd period, Parker Kelly took a delay of game penalty which then lead to a goal for the Laval Rockets. Riley Barber scored his 12th goal of the season to tie the game 2-2. They left the 2nd period tied at 2s. There were no goals in the 3rd

Now we are into overtime. It looked like the Sens were going to lose the game in OT but Filip Gustavsson made 3 phenomenal stops which got the fans on their feet. After Gustavsson’s 3rd save the Sens headed toward Laval’s end. The Sens dropped the puck back to Alex Formenton who took a hard wrist shot which beat Cayden Primeau of the Laval Rockets.

Other players who collected points were Charles Hudon who collected his 2nd point of the game on a assist, Riley Barber who also had an assist and Jesperi Kotkaneimi who had 2 assists. From the Belleville Sens there was Jordan Murray with 1 assist, Josh Norris with 2 assists, Vitaly Abramov with 1 assist and Joseph LaBate who had 1 assist.
